Earthquake and Data Science

Data Driven
We analyze large scale of real seismic data and simulated data. Seismology is a data-rich and data-driven science. A common broadband three channels seismometer records ground motion 24/7 in 80-250 Hz, which is 20-65 millions data points per day.

Model Oriented
We build physical kinematic inversion model to solve for earthquake source parameters and to understand how earthquakes ruptured.

Machine Learning & Deep Learning
We use machine-learning & deep-learning techniques to improve earthquake early warning system, and data mining small low frequency earthquakes from noisy data.

Numerical Simulation
We simulate realistic large earthquake ruptures and their ground motion through HPC facility.
